SOCIAL DANCE PARTIES

Take your new skills out to dance!

How "Splits" let beginners dance right out of the box at a social dance!  You are never too new at this to enjoy these parties!

In social line dancing we do a thing called "splitting the floor."  One end/area of the room is designated for beginners to dance along to any song that is playing for the improver/intermediate dancers on the rest of the floor.   We have picked about twenty beginner (Level 1/2) dances that can mix and match with almost any song played for the more experienced dancers.  You'll see that these dances are the foundation of the Level 1 and 2 classes, so you are already learning them!  When you attend a dance party, the DJ, an instructor, or dance host can suggest one of them that might go well with the current song....but you're always welcome to choose your own and get the group dancing with you.  This skill works for you at weddings, bars, concerts, and other occassions where fun music makes you want to dance!

Browse through the dances below and keep a list of the ones you have learned and liked.  It will come in handy when you're near a dance floor!   The numbers after each dance are the Beats Per Minute the dances are comfortable for.  Put a BPM tap app (like this one) on your phone and easily match up the dances with the songs.

First Sunday Line Dance Socials at Crystal Ballroom

NEXT DANCE WILL BE APRIL 6 .  All levels of dancers keep dancing throughout this fun monthly party usually on the first Sunday from 2 - 4:30 pm. The DJ takes requests, so bring your list!  Couples dancers are welcome too! If it is your first time, you can come at 1:30 for a nice walk-through of how we split the floor so everyone has the space they need on the big, beautiful wood floor.

All ages are welcome if they are dancers.  There is no daycare for non-dancing children.   Plenty of off-street parking.  For directions, check out the LOCATIONS page on this site.

Dress is casual.  The room has A/C and fans, but you can work up a sweat if that is your goal!   You can bring snacks to share and bring your own water or beverages.  The studio also has a small snack bar where you can buy water, drinks, and snacks.

Admission is $20 at the door.  Use PROMOCODE  LINEDANCE12 to pay $12 in advance online at:

>If you have Silver Sneakers, Prime, or Renew Active through your Medicare Advantage Plan, you can join the WCC for no cost and gain admission to this dance at no cost.  You MUST stop in to either location to activate this membership--it cannot be done online.

>This class will allow up to 30 people to register in advance with Silver Sneakers, et. al, memberships on May 21 (May 19 for residents.)

>If you are not a Silver Sneakers, et al, member and would like to take advantage of the pre-payment option,  you can register at either location or online on May 21 (May 19 for residents.)

>If you try to sign up for the dance online and it says it is full, that just means the pre-pay discount spots are gone. You can add yourself to a wait list, but please come and pay at the desk....and (back to the beginning) if you are already in the system that will go much quicker.

Throw you own party!

Pick a location, a date, and a reason (or no reason at all) and invite your friends to dance!  Driskil Dance instructors and DJs will make it happen.  It's a great gift for a friend who has always wanted to learn to dance, but never finds the time.  Let us know what you'd like!
